The route combines savannah, lakes and wetlands supporting Rwanda's most diverse big-game viewing in Akagera National Park, ancient montane rainforest, primate diversity and sweeping forest scenery in Nyungwe National Park, and volcanic highlands and Rwanda's celebrated mountain-gorilla region in Volcanoes National Park. Air transfers shorten the longer sectors, leaving more time for game drives, guided experiences and the atmosphere of each destination.
